There are many ways to customize your bulletproof coffee recipe to fit your taste preferences and dietary needs. Here are some substitutions and variations you can try:

– Grass-fed unsalted ghee: If you don’t have grass-fed butter, you can use ghee instead. Ghee is clarified butter that has a slightly nutty flavor and is easier to digest for some people.

– Coconut milk or cream: For a dairy-free option, try using coconut milk or cream instead of butter. This will give your coffee a creamy texture and a tropical flavor.

– Cocoa butter: To give your bulletproof coffee a chocolatey twist, substitute cocoa butter for some of the butter or oil. Cocoa butter is rich in antioxidants and healthy fats.

– Iced coffee: If you prefer your coffee cold, you can make a batch of bulletproof iced coffee by blending cold brewed coffee with ice, butter, and oil.

– Cinnamon: Add some warmth and spice to your bulletproof coffee by sprinkling a pinch of cinnamon on top.

– MCT oil: While brain octane oil is the recommended oil for making bulletproof coffee, you can also use MCT (medium-chain triglycerides) oil as a substitute. It’s a popular ingredient in keto diets and can help boost energy and mental clarity.

– Different types of brewed coffee: Although freshly brewed hot coffee is recommended in this recipe, you can experiment with different types of coffee beans or instant coffee to see what works best for you.

Remember to adjust the quantities of ingredients depending on the substitution you choose to maintain a balanced recipe. Enjoy experimenting with different combinations until you find your favorite bulletproof coffee variation!

You could also pair your buttery coffee with an avocado toast or some scrambled eggs for a more filling breakfast.

Are you hoping to make a big batch of bulletproof coffee and enjoy it throughout the week? Or perhaps you just want to prep your butter coffee the night before for an early morning start? Either way, it’s possible to make bulletproof coffee ahead of time and store it properly.

To make a large batch, simply multiply the recipe by the desired number of servings. However, be sure to store each serving separately in airtight containers. Glass jars with lids or travel thermoses work well for this purpose. It’s essential to keep the butter and oil from separating, so give the mixture a good shake or stir before drinking.

If you’re prepping for one serving, it’s okay to mix everything together and store it in a glass container. You can reheat your mixture in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until it reaches your desired temperature. Alternatively, you can pour it into a blender and pulse until frothy for an iced version.

When storing your bulletproof coffee, it’s recommended to keep it refrigerated up to five days. If you plan on storing it for more than two days, consider freezing individual servings instead. Be sure to label everything with the date to keep track of freshness.

Reheating is easy; simply pop your pre-made mixture into the microwave or heat it up in a saucepan over low heat while stirring frequently. Be careful not to overheat it as high temperatures may break down some of the healthy fats.

Experiment with making your own variations using different types of coffee beans, cocoa powder, or even spices like ground nutmeg or cinnamon – just be sure to stick to keto-friendly ingredients! With these tips, making bulletproof coffee ahead of time has never been easier.

Hot, Buttery Coffee (Bulletproof Coffee)

Hot, Buttery Coffee (Bulletproof Coffee) Recipe

Coffee with butter - it sounds weird, but we put cream in our coffee so it's not that much of a stretch! This is sometimes know by the name 'bulletproof coffee', but that's a branded thing that also includes MTC oils like coconut and plam, which allegedly add various unproven health benefits. I'm not about the weight loss and psuedo science gimmicks behind that - I just love coffee and butter. This recipe is all about making delicious, creamy coffee. You should use grass fed butter, which is easier to find in some places than other. If you're in the UK, Kerrygold is the best choice, and if you want organic, Yeo Valley is mostly grass fed too. Both salted and unsalted work, so it's really a matter of preference.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh brewed coffee
  • 2 teaspoons grass fed butter

Instructions

  • You can use coffee brewed using any method - drip, french press, Americano, or you can buy fresh coffee from a cafe. Don't use instant coffee.
  • Place butter in a blender, pour in coffee and blend until emulsified.* A thin froth will form on top. The ratio of coffee to butter can vary as much as you like. I usually use about as much as I would on an average piece of toast.
  • Pour into a coffee mug and enjoy!
  • * Blending hot liquids can be dangerous, so be careful! Don't use anything air-tight, such as a Nutribullet. I use an immersion blender in a tall cup, and I wrap a tea towel around the top to prevent hot splatter. You can also use a traditional blender with cloth placed over the pour hole.
