Tips for Perfect Results

A perfect partner with your favorite cup of coffee.
A perfect partner with your favorite cup of coffee.

For the perfect sunflower coffee cake, you need a little bit of patience and attention to detail. Follow these tips to achieve soft, fluffy, and flavorful results every time.

First, make sure your ingredients are at room temperature before you start mixing them. It allows them to blend better and produce a smoother batter. Take out the eggs, butter, and sour cream from the fridge at least an hour before making the cake.

Next, use sunflower oil for both greasing the pan and adding to the batter. Sunflower oil has a mild flavor that won’t overpower the taste of the sunflower seeds in the cake. Also, it has a high smoke point, which means it can withstand heat well without burning.

When adding eggs to the batter, beat them one at a time, incorporating each before adding the next one. Stirring too much or too little could result in over-mixing or under-mixing, respectively. Likewise, when adding flour mixture and liquid ingredients alternately, do it in three parts.

Use freshly ground cinnamon sunflower seeds to give your coffee cake more depth of flavor. Alternatively, add chopped walnuts or brown sugar on top of browned butter frosting.

Lastly, don’t over-bake your cake! Check it after 30 minutes by inserting a toothpick into its center. If it comes out clean with no crumbs or batter sticking to it, then it’s done baking. Remove it from the oven immediately and let it cool for ten minutes before cutting into slices.

With these tips in mind, you’ll be able to whip up a delicious and impressive sunflower coffee cake every time you bake it. Enjoy!
